Our Potential in Christ!

#Potential #HisPurpose #BearFruit

The nation of Israel had the potential of being blessed for centuries and also being a blessing to others until the return of Christ. But they chose to do their own thing. They decided to work out their own destiny. They disobeyed God and walk right into the sen of sin and destruction. Not only did they walk into it they walled in it and enjoyed that lifestyle until God put them into captivity and removed them from the land (see Jeremiah, Lamentation, Isaiah. Rarely do we ever hear about their blatant disobedience and what it cost them? We hear about the nation of Israel today. Just think about Auschwitz, the current state of heightened battle and terroristic attacks. Would they be occurring if Israel had remained faithful to God?

Matthew 13 (NASB)  The parable of the sower explained.

10 And the disciples came and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?” 11 d]”>[d]Jesus answered them, “To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been granted. 12 For whoever has, to him more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him. 13 Therefore I speak to them in parables; because while seeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.

Isreal Reaped What It Sowed!

14 e]”>[e]In their case the prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled, which says, f]”>[f]You will keep on hearingg]”>[g]but will not understandh]”>[h]You will keep on seeing, but will not perceive15 For the heart of this people has become dullWith their ears they scarcely hearAnd they have closed their eyesOtherwise they would see with their eyes,

Well, we – Christians, have the potential to impact this world powerfully. It depends on what we are sowing. Are we going to be hard-hearted, sidetrack to pursue other pursuits? Spend most of our time in sociopolitical things rather than spread the gospel, and hope of grace to others?  It seems that we are forgetting that growth is an individual thing. The cares of this world will not open our eyes to the potential that we have in Christ.

  • Hear with their earsAnd understand with their heart and returnAnd I would heal them.’
  • 16 But blessed are your eyes because they see; and your ears, because they hear.
  • 17 For truly I say to you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.

We are called to be Different! Each of us has a purpose. Minimally our job is to love ALL people the way that God loves us! Listen to this video and it speaks to why being different is so important today.

My daughter calls people who are “pretenders”  or “fronters.” That might have worked 10 to 20 years ago, but it will not work with people today. Especially, young people.
