Hearing the Word = Building a House on the Rock!

#Building #House #Rock

Unlike building a physical house on a rock, Christians are building their spiritual house on “The Rock.” “The Rock” is Jesus Christ our Lord. When He is our foundation, nothing can move us from the foundation of our lives. Yes, we will sin – we are human and subject to sin, but He will never leave us in our state of sin floating around in the atmosphere. He will brush us off and forgive us of the sins that we have committed. All we have to do is let go of them.  God told Israel ‘Isaiah 28:16

“So this is what the Lord GOD says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; the one who believes will never be shaken.”

This applies to us today.  Paul talked about the foundation laid for each church that God used him to open

1 Corinthians 3:10 “By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one must be careful how he builds.”

1 Peter 2:4 -8  And coming to Him as to a living stone which has been rejected by men, but is [i]choice and precious in the sight of God, you also, as living stones, [j]are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For this is contained in [k]Scripture:”- Behold, I lay in Zion a choice stone, a precious corner stone,  And he who believes in [l]Him will not be [m]disappointed.” This precious value, then, is for you who believe; but for those who disbelieve, The stone which the builders rejectedThis became the very cornerstone,” and, “A stone of stumbling and a rock of offensefor they stumble because they are disobedient to the word, and to this doom they were also appointed.”

Christ our cornestone will always be a rock of offense to this world. So, be not concerned when people are offended by toy because of yoru belief system.  No, I am not necessarily talking about sociopolitical views. Those are worldly pursuits and can cause offense. However, when we call ourselves a “Christian” because our sociopolitical  views should be the same as Christ. in short loving people th way that he loved them. Go back to the story of the Samaritan Women. The Samaritans were social and political outcasts.
