God has called His children broken “The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit” (Psalm 34:18).

Broken people comprehend the omniscience of God.

Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure” (Isaiah 46:9-10). They do not have to be reminded that He has and always will be God.  Broken people also understand that God is already complete, we need Him. O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways” (Psalm 139:1-3). We need His forgiveness.

Broken People Do Not Lean on Their Own Understanding

A broken person knows that their life is governed Scripture. Scripture dictates how they live in obedience to His will and His way for their lives. They rely completely on God. Proverbs 3:5-6 Broken people are the “meek” and meakness is not the same and being emotionally, physically, or spiritually weak (See Matthew 5:2-12).

Broken People Know That They Must Die Before They Can Be Born Again.

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit” John 12:24).  The parable of the wheat and tares is not lost on them. They know that they must bear fruit. For spiritual fruit to present itself in one’s life human nature and the “I or me” syndome must die within us and becomes I am “His vessel created to do His will!”

Finally, brokenness happens at the “foot of the cross.” The realization that one is “nothing and less than nothing” become a broken person current reality and not just a “Christianese” phrase that Christians say to appease their leaders.

Lord show me how precious brokenness is in your sight.
