Fog is beautiful, but when it is thick, it is dangerous. God’s creation never fails to amaze.

What is fog?

Fog shows up when water vapor, or water in its gaseous form, condenses. During condensationmolecules of water vapor combine to make tiny liquid water droplets that hang in the air. You can see fog because of these tiny water droplets. Water vapor, a gas, is invisible.  Fog happens when it’s very, very humid. There has to be a lot of water vapor in the air for the fog to form (From National Geographic Encyclopedia, Fog, 2019).

It reminds me of the spiritual states chronicled in the Book of Revelation (Message to The Churches Revelation 3). We can either be hot or cold, but not lukewarm. Fog is a great reminder of what I should or should not be.

Have you ever walked out of a worship service filled with hope? One leaves that service excited and ready to go forward and apply what you have learned. Then you have a near-death experience on the road because of someone else’s erratic driving? What is the first word that comes out of our mouths when this happens? “Jesus!” How about the following scenario?

Or, you wake up with a specific purpose in mind, open your front door, and are faced with dense fog. Fog so think that you could not see anything 10-20 feet ahead of you? Well, that was my experience this morning. I had plans made. My day is already stretched out far more than I need it to be. We always walk on our road first thing in the morning. My granddaughter needs at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day for a minimum of 3 days per week. I thought to myself how are we going to do PE this morning? Also, I had to go to the local recycling center to take trash and place items in the recycling bins. I could barely see to get out of the driveway. I thought “Lord, this is your doing so I will be just fine!” It was frigidly cold, damp, and miserable. The fibro pain was growing in every muscle in my body. So do I crawl back into the house or do I go outside and trust God to take care of me? I decided to let faith navigate the morning. Sometimes we just have to give the pain-taker take the pain, and the chain breaker break the chains of fear and trust Him to be who He is God! Chainbreaker Song

Lord, the Most High God, the one who sees and knows everything that your children are facing, going to face and will face, I give you praise! I pray that as my foggy mind begins to dampen my spirit that you will clear my heart and soul, and bolster my spirit man by giving me the faith to be hot in the spirit. To allow you to drive out fear, pain, and heartache. All of these emotions will cloud my judgment, and create spiritual condensation on the windows of my spiritual mind. Only you can keep my mind clear and focused on you. Only you can strengthen this weak human body. It is when I am weak that you are the strongest in my life. As I walk through the valley of the shadows of this life, I thank you for your presence. It is heaven to me. I pray for each person reading this devotional today. That your Holy Spirit will be an ever-present reminder of who they are in you in the name and through the blood of Jesus Christ my Passover Sacrifice amen!
