Love your enemies! Say What?

#Love like#Jesus

Pure love does not see a person’s skin, actions, religion, economic status.

Love is not a feeling or an emotion. It is a decision about how we live our lives within the community of believers and within our own communities. It is about how we treat each other. The most outstanding example of love in the history of the world was shown by Jesus Christ. In John 13:34-35 KJV Jesus tells us to love God, to love one another.

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

However, He doesn’t stop there. He goes beyond familial love to extreme love. He tells us to love our neighbor as ourselves. What? Oh, but He is not finished. Then He extends the construct to something beyond who and what we are as humans beings. He tells us to love our enemies! Are you kidding me? Love them? Not be afraid of them? Not try to wipe them off the face of the earth? Apparently not, He demonstrated how to love like this all this in his own life by loving even the Pharisees who hated Him and the person who betrayed Him – Judas who betrayed him. As the world spins out of control and throws itself into the tornado of fear and hate, we the children of God MUST be the example of what Jesus taught us to be – LOVE!

Prayer: Lord please give me eyes and a heart like yours. A heart that loves like yours. A heart that loves unconditionally. A heart that sees people as you see them. A heart that is not bound by human conventions and fear, but filled with love for all people. Amen!
