Fighting a battle? You don’t have to!

#Fighting a battle?

We don’t have to fight any battles because we are not alone in the strife. Our efforts are useless without the power of God. Think about the city of Jericho.

The occupants thought that they were safe against the Israelites. It was the very fight city that Israel came to after wondering in the wilderness for 40 years. It had tall walls that were presumed to be unscaleable (Joshua 6:1-27).Β Β What did Joshua do? He went to his Refuge and Strong Tower! Why, because God showed himself to be a refuge and strong tower to Moses and Israel before they took it upon themselves to determine that theyΒ could not defeat the inhabitants of the city. God spoke, Joshua listened, he told the people, the people did not question him. Not one single sword, nor hammer was used to bring down that wall. The power of God did it. So, my friends, what are you facing today? What is your wall of Jericho that seems insurmountable?Β  I know that financial challenges are the hardest to deal with. I know what it means to trust God to provide for me in sickness and in health. Emotional problems are also battles that many of us are facing. Just know that God is bigger than all of them. He will not only fight the battle, but He will also win it. You are not alone. You are not the only one who is facing all of the life challenges that you wake up to each morning. Remember that you have the force that raised Jesus from the dead on your side. He can and will keep you safe, calm, healed, and will deliver you. You may feel like a plant that is withering up under the strain of life. Wait for his cool refreshing water patiently. It will come in the form of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will refresh, feed, and restore you. Go to the well! And drink! Then watch your withered soul uncurl like the leaves on a dying plant. You are fortified by the Holy Spirit and surrounded by His might!

Song: Surrounded

Lord, I come to your throne of refuge, mercy, and grace and lay down all of the burdens that surround me. These things are temporal but your everlasting love, power, and strength surround me. I praise and thank you for not leaving me alone in my time of need. I am so thankful that I don’t have to fight battles because you are fighting for me. Amen!
