Choose Trust.

#choose #life Don’t drift through life. Choose to trust God like Joshua, David, Peter, and Paul! Choose to be happy! Choose life!

As a part of this life’s journey, we will all face problems, battles and sometimes significant life challenges. We must remember that we are not alone. When we look at the Bible’s references to spiritual giants we see that David faced many predicaments in his life’s journey. In Psalm 55 David describes one significant challenge in his life

” 12 For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: [It was not an enemy, he could have dealth with that.] neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him: [betrayal by a friend]  13 But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance. [They shared everything, even their secrets.] 14 We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company.

David had fought many battles with this friend “Verse 18He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many with me.” Have you ever been betrayed by a close friend? Someone who had convinced your other friends and even family members to turn against you? Their lies were so convincing that people who knew you began to curse you? What did you do? Let’s see what David did.

These days I find myself in a quandary. Do I choose to be different from many of my friends and not allow the political turmoil that has engulfed this world to take up 90% of my time or do I choose to TRUST GOD? Well, I have to follow the same tenets that David followed. When I am involved in a confrontation with a close friend or family member, I have tried really hard to take the high road. When we don’t take the high road and allow our emotions and fear to control us we say and do things that we apologize for while doing them.  See that sort of apology does not work.  What is worse is when we are a leader in our community or any community – like social media – we must set the right example. Back to David. David tells us to “Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved” (verse 22). It helps me to write down my cares. It is amazing to see how God resolved them over time. Finally, my friends, choose to be like David, Paul, Peter, John, and the new Christians in the New testament. Many of them feared for their lives.  Death was not a possibility it was a certainty,. “The Way” was rapidly changing society and the status quo. Sociological, religious, and political leaders were leery of a religious movement that was so different from society at large that they did not know what to do with it. Look around you. Is how you respond to fear, anxiety, and the sociopolitical climate matching David’s response to his friend helping his son to overthrow him?

Lord, I want to bring all of my cares before you today. I cast all of them before your throne of grace and provision and put my trust in you – amen.
