Proverbs 12

Our thoughts control our actions! #positivethinking affects our relationships with others!

  • 1 Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: [Have you ever met a child or adult who hates to read, who hates or hated school and did everything they could to avoid it? Part A of this verse shows the connection between instruction and wisdom] but he that hateth reproof is brutish.

#GrowingClosertoGod and #LearningHowToLoveOthersBetter is something that takes wisdom, knowledge, and understanding of His love for us and His absolute will for our lives. The verses below list the benefits of growing closer to God. This is a daily pursuit. It is not jumping from one teacher, preacher, leader, or religious or theological construct to another.  As time passes by one will realize that not all preachers as called to preach and not all teacher of The Word are called to teach. We live by one creed and one creed alone “Love others as Christ loved us!” How we live that our demonstrates the “righteousness of God” in our lives.

  • 2 A good man obtaineth favour of the LORD: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.
  • 3 A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved. [People will come against you but you will remain standing because you stand on the firm foundation of Jesus Christ.]
  • 4 A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: [This topic has been a thorn in the side of many women for centuries. Proverbs 31 talks about the virtuous woman and the type of things that she did for her family. Men have used that chapter of this book to slay their wives emotionally and put them on a guilt trip. This woman knows how to use her skills and resources to bless her family and she is a great host to others.

  • 5 The thoughts of the righteous are right:[ Having pure thoughts means you are not thinking and or wishing evil on someone else, even people who have threatened or might threaten you or your lifestyle. Trusting Him to handle those challenges and doing what you can to protect yourself in the meantime is just fine, but harboring “evil” thoughts against them is just not kosher!!-] but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.
  • 6 The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
  • 7 The wicked are overthrown, and are not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.
  • 8 A man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.[We see this latter characteristic receiving its just rewards even more so these days than ever before. People whom we have respected for decades have been unmasked. It tells us exactly what The Word pronounces – trust not in man. Make no gods out of stick, stones, bricks, or gold. Neither should we make mini-gods out of TV personalities, film-stars, musicians, sports personalitiess, or politicians. Why? Because they are all human and subject to human failings. I am constantly checking my attitude and revisiting my thoughts, words, and actions at the end of the each day. I don’t want to be responsible for causing anyone undue pain!]
  • 9 He that is despised, and hath a servant, is better than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.

Living a righteous life permeates everything that we do. It is not so much us doing it as the Holy Spirit. We don’t hurt other people because they have hurt us. We don’t seek vengeance on someone because they have caused us pain. Everything even animals are precious in our lives because we are  willing to acknowledge them as part of God’s creation.

One cannot determine good fruit from bad fruit without making a judgment-not condemning the person, but determining if their actions line up with Scripture.]
  • 13 The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.
  • 14 A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: and the recompence of a man’s hands shall be rendered unto him.
  • 15The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise. [Once again we are reminded that ignoring experienced counsel is not a smart move on anyone’s part.]
  • 16 A fool’s wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame. [When was the last time that you saw someone cover up the shameful act of another person-especially when it occurred due to a temporary lapse in their behavior? Generally, we want to publicly shame the person because they made a mistake, or the person who has made the mistake will dig until they find out what they think is something worse that the other person has done and immediately make it public knowledge. This is not acceptable in God’s sight!]
  • 17 He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.
  • 18 There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health. [Think about what has been happening all around us for the last 3 years!]
  • 19 The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.
  • 20 Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace is joy. [When one is not plotting against others they have peace and they have joy!]

He will bring you through the negatives of life! A life of joy is possible. Sometimes we have to wear blinders to keep us focused on what is important. Sometimes we have to let go of some things that we may have wanted to happen just to have internal peace.
