The Requirements of the Gentile Church.

Paul wrote to the Colossians church encouraging them “For this cause, we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding (Colossians 1:9 KJV).    The church was under attack by people who believe that they should be living by the restrictions of the Judaic Laws.   Paul addressed these obstructions to freedom in Christ in the book of Galatians chapter 5. The Gentile church and Judaic Christians were no longer bound by the observances of traditional Judaic holidays. However, when you mere cultures, and have found out your freedom in Christ one can become haughty and condemnative of those who chose to live under the bondage of keeping days, week, seasons, eating, and drinking only specific thing.  Paul brought them back to the reality of what being a Christian is about. We are a community of believers who are commanded to not just love each other but we are commanded to love all men.

“16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. 17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. 18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. 19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. 20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. 21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Ro 12 16-22).

Love is the theme of this blog because it is the need of the peoples of the world and our nation in particular. We are free to live, learn, explore, eat, celebrate, and live without the restrictions of the Judaic, but we are not free to be hateful to others.

It is Jesus that we adore not any ideology or religious institution. So today, as we go to our family reunions, worship HIm with a clean and forgiving heart knowing that there are NO sins that we can commit that He has not already forgiven and that we are children of the Free Woman. Free to live free of guilt and condemnation.
