One Body, One Spirt = Peace

Pressings on to the goal involve becoming one with my brothers and sisters in Christ.  At such  a time like this, and my brothers and sisters in Christ and me must

walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace – Ephesians 4:1-3 KJV

Walking worthy of my calling gives me the ability to press on towards the goal and the great prize that I will achieve.  There awaits me a huge crown in glory. Will it be empty or will there indeed be stars in that crown because I pressed on in the unity and oneness that must exist in the body of Christ?  Unity produces peace – internal and external peace.  A house divided creates contentions. A house united is stronger that steel and iron.

Mighty God and my Heavenly Father, I know that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.  The fields are indeed white for the harvest, but I cannot harvest when I am living a life of contention arguing over scriptural interpretations, etc.  I cannot press on if I am not exercising my faith as a member of the One Body of Christ, led by the One Holy Spirit, as I live my life according to the One Hope of the calling that You have placed on it.  As I meet and exchange pleasantries and your Word with my Brothers and sisters in Christ Father keep me mindful of the fact that I am part of the body of believers who have one baptism and we serve the One God and Father of all Peoples. You are the …

Ephesians 4:5 One God and Father of all [of us], who is above all, and through all, and in … all [of us].

Father continue to give me a heart that is willing to serve alongside people who are of many denominations just because we are all serving the One God. We are all partners of the one large harvest. Continue to teach me how to press on Father in spite of the differences in theology because

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known – 1 Corinthians 13:12 (KJV).

None of us have absolute knowledge and understand and know all things.

Also, Father one of the things that are dividing the Body of Christ more than anything else is  how we worship, what we worship with, what words we use when we worship, what we sing when we worship, who has written the music to what we sing, even the type of music that we sing when we worship and not the fact that we are praising You, Father.

This is a huge stretch for me because I do not believe that worship should be boring and lifeless.  But for some people that music that someone may think is dead stirs their hearts – if indeed they are worshipping and not just singing words they have known for their entire lives. As long as the worship is meaningful it should not make any difference what music we sing and who wrote it.  We do not need to be involved in the rituals of worship – because then they become rituals that we carry out without any spiritual significance it just becomes something that we have done and will continue to do by rote because that is how it has always been.   Whatever I do it must be for Your glory and not for my personal feelings that I may or may not get from the experience.  Spirit to spirit worship uplifts and inspires. I do not want to become a person who is engaged in worship that is filled with ..

……. strife or vainglory – Philippians 2:3

I want to be involved with worship that is from a mind that is lowly and that

…… esteem other (s) better than [I esteem myself].

My dear Father, I pray that peace within the body of Christ will not just become the buzz word, but it will be the reality for your people. We are as worshippers of the El Shaddai. Father let that peace begin with me.
