You Are Not the Only One

Proverbs 10: 1The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father I Kings 3: [David was Solomon’s father I am sure that he was very proud of him.] but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother. [Solomon made some very foolish decisions in the during his reign as the King of Israel and it grieved his mother.] However, Solomon also learned the important lesson about what happens when he speaks into the lives of others. 

Over the last 12 years, world leaders  have learned the importance of choosing one’s words carefully. Once spoken it is almost impossible to take back the words that have landed on the ears of others. Many of the Proverbs speak to the benefits of living a righteous and just life as opposed to a life that attacks the poor, the needy, or being a braggadocio person who does not know how to control their tongue.

In the current political climate – worldwide it is evident that hatred, a lack of understanding, foolish talking, poverty, sin, a lack of respect for correction, living by vocally slandering others, reaps rewards that are unpleasant for the person who chooses to live this way. In the end, the Justice of God will prevail.

As we read the Proverbs we need to plant ourselves, our neighbors, communities, states, and countries into these verses and ascertain where do we stand with reference to the results of these behaviors. Where do our leaders stand? Where does our community stand? Then Pray, forgive, repent, and repeat the cycle until The  Lord returns. I am convinced that we are living in the latter days and the behaviors below will become the norm and not the exception.

I am making bold the benefits of constraint or the blessing of living a life that chooses wisdom.

It is all about choice. Choice of words, choice of lifestyle, choice of beliefs, and choice of what we deem important enough to take a stance on. If all of those choices that we are making are not lining up with God’s words then maybe just maybe we are making the wrong choices. I know that those are strong words. But did you notice that each negative behavior has significantly strong negative consequences? We are so busy being politically, or sociologically correct that we are forgetting that God calls a spade a spade, not in a condemnatory manner. But He does not mince His words. He wants to be sure that we know where we stand. But for the grace that He has given us through the death and resurrection of His son, we would all be going to hell.

Proverbs Chapter 10 is a hallmark chapter because it speaks to what is happening right now in many people’s lives because of the actions and words of others. But God sees and knows all.
