He is Our Protector: Leader!

#Passover #WlkingTalkingSavior # Jesus

We have a Savior who walked and talked to people from all walks of life. He never isolated himself from the immigrant – The Samaritans – who were hated by all of the Jews. He broke bread with the man whom He knew would betray Him. Can you imagine what kind of world it would be if we saw people the way that Christ sees them? Not as threats to our well-being, but as precious in His sight. We have the social upheaval that we have today because we refuse to trust Him to protect us. Man will always fail us but He will Not.

Hebrews 5:11-6:3 King James Version (KJV)

Paul is scolding the Jewish Christians by telling them that they are no longer babes in Christ. They should not be carried about with every wind of doctrine.

Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God;and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.

Was Paul insulting them? No, he was just being real with them. Visualize this. Your ten your old child is sitting at the dining room table and they are sucking on a baby’s bottle. They refuse to eat real food with meat and vegetables. Ok, that is what Paul is saying to us in this scripture. So, do we want to hear the stuff that reminds us of what was when we were new to following “the Way.” The basic tenets of our faith? Or, do we want to grow in the knowledge of the word of God. At some point, we must stop searching for something new.  God’s word is enough.

So here is the difference. These Christians did not know the difference between good and evil. So, let’s get down to the meat of this word.  What do I spend most of my time doing when I am on social media. I keep reflecting on social media because it is a place where people are spreading dissension, hatred, and dissimulation because we have a right to “free speech.” The problem with that mindset is this. If what I am posting does not help the situation, if it does not support “growing closer to God and loving all people better” then why am I posting it? Yes, I have a right to post what I want and no one can tell me what to post – but as a Christian where do my rights begin and end? If what I am posting is hateful to any people group I need to STOP. Why? because I am spreading fear and fear is NOT from God.

Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, [forget about the knowledge of who Christ is – that is a baseline belief.] let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. [These are the things that set us apart from the rest of the fear torn world.  When we are a follower of Christ we do not live in fear. Why? Because we are children Of Almighty God.] And this will we do, if God permit.

Prayer: Lord please remind us that you are the sovereign God. Show us that we are not babies who should be swinging back and forth between belief and fear, between strength and weakness. Turn our eyes to the future and to the plans that you have for us instead of yearning for what was and the wishy-washy pablum that we used to feed on and live off. Strengthen our resolve to live as children of The Living God. Selah
