God’s word is the guiding light of our lives. It lightens the path upon which we are all walking and reveals the darkness for what it is. Whenever light is present darkness has to flee. We currently live in a season where darkness is attempting to permeate every fabric of society. The Children of God are struggling to make sense of what is happening around them. Do you live in a nation that appears to have broken its moral compass? Where hatred and dismay are the “norm” and not the exception to the rule?

We do not need to struggle through those societal challenges because God the Father and Jesus Christ have made a covenantal promise to:

  1. Guide us.
  2. Redeem us from sin
  3. Give us a new heart that seeks to know Him and live like Him,
  4. A heart filled with His pure joy.
  5. A heart that understands and lives in a way that is comforting to self and others.
  6. A heart that overflows with happiness, and peace.

The following are 12 verses of Scripture about those covenantal promises of God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Every Christian should not only know them but embrace them as their own.

  • God’s promises of protection and prosperity are solidly sure and permanently a part of our lives. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11

  • God has the power to keep you on His predetermined path for you.: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”Proverbs 3:5-6
  • Seek the “kingdom first” by putting God first in your life. Jesus said…“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” – Matthew 6:33
  • The only place one can find redemption is through Jesus Christ. No amount of law following will redeem us from sin. “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin”1 John 1:7
  • God has removed our sins from us, so receive His forgiveness and believe it.“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”1 John 1:9
  • Give control of your life to Jesus, and He will come and live with you. “If you give of yourself and do godly work for Jesus, Jesus will return blessings for you. Jesus said…“If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.” John 15:7-8
  • God will always work things out for our good. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” – Romans 8:28
  • No matter how hard things may seem, God will not allow any temptation that is greater than what you can bear. “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to humanity. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also give a way out so that you can endure it.– 1 Corinthians 10:13
  • God protects His righteous children.“Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.”– Psalm 55:22
  • God is our Jehovah Jireh, “Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”Psalm 37:4
  • God, our Father, offers eternal life as a free gift to believers. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”– John 3:16
  • Jesus is our Loving Shepherd. “A Psalm of David.

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.  Psalm 23:1-7

Believe in these promises friends because our God is “not a man that he should lie.” Numbers 23:19 (KJV) God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?”
