How R U fighting UR Battles?

#GodWillDoWhatItTakes #HeComesAfterHisPeople #HehasTheirSix

His reckless love has fought the battles and won! Do you believe it? The story of these two OT women shows how battles are fought and won and the power of His love for them!

The Faith of the Woman

“The wife of a man from the company of the prophets cried out to Elisha, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that he revered the Lord. But now his creditor is coming to take my two boys as his slaves.” Elisha replied to her, “How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?” “Your servant has nothing there at all,” she said, “except a small jar of olive oil.” Elisha said, “Go around and ask all your neighbors for empty jars. Don’t ask for just a few. Then go inside and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars, and as each is filled, put it to one side.” She left him and shut the door behind her and her sons. They brought the jars to her and she kept pouring. When all the jars were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another one.” But he replied, “There is not a jar left.”

She just did what she was told! Elisha believed in the reckless love of God. Her mountain was destitution and death!

Then the oil stopped flowing. She went and told the man of God, and he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debts. You and your sons can live on what is left.” This is like the feeding of the five thousand right?

Another widow- do you think that God cares about women and their plight?

One day Elisha went to Shunem. And a well-to-do woman was there, who urged him to stay for a meal. So whenever he came by, he stopped there to eat. She said to her husband, “I know that this man who often comes our way is a holy man of God. Let’s make a small room on the roof and put in it a bed and a table, a chair and a lamp for him.

She recognized his position and sowed seed into his ministry! What a novel idea huh? Sometimes we sow just because the Lord leads us to sow. Not because we want anything in return.

Then he can stay there whenever he comes to us.” One day when Elisha came, he went up to his room and lay down there. He said to his servant Gehazi, “Call the Shunammite.” So he called her, and she stood before him. Elisha said to him, “Tell her, ‘You have gone to all this trouble for us. Now what can be done for you? Can we speak on your behalf to the king or the commander of the army?’ ” She replied, “I have a home among my own people.” “What can be done for her?”

Did she have a need that God could provide? Did she have a wall that she needed Him to tear down? No, he was not asking because he didn’t know! Both Gehazi and this woman needed to see the glory of the Lord in their lives.

.Elisha asked. Gehazi said, “She has no son, and her husband is old.” Then Elisha said, “Call her.” So he called her, and she stood in the doorway. “About this time next year,” Elisha said, “you will hold a son in your arms.” “No, my lord!” she objected. “Please, man of God, don’t mislead your servant!”

[Remember Sarah? She did not believe in the power of tearing down a barren womb either! What walls are you facing right now that you need God to just tear down or even better yet blow apart?]

“But the woman became pregnant, and the next year about that same time she gave birth to a son, just as Elisha had told her. The child grew, and one day he went out to his father, who was with the reapers.

Now the Battle! How is she going to fight this one? So, how are you fighting your battle right now? Are you pretending that God cannot solve it? Are you pretending that your solution is better than Gods? Let me tell you this, I have been there done that and it does not work! Only God can tear down those walls. Only He can win those battle.

“He said to his father, “My head! My head!” His father told a servant, “Carry him to his mother.” After the servant had lifted him up and carried him to his mother, the boy sat on her lap until noon, and then he died.”

And the story goes on. Let’s see how she fights this battle.

“She went up and laid him on the bed of the man of God, then shut the door and went out. She called her husband and said, “Please send me one of the servants and a donkey so I can go to the man of God quickly and return.” “Why go to him today?” he asked. “It’s not the New Moon or the Sabbath.”

That’s all right,” she said. She saddled the donkey and said to her servant, “Lead on; don’t slow down for me unless I tell you.”

So she set out and came to the man of God at Mount Carmel. When he saw her in the distance, the man of God said to his servant Gehazi, “Look! There’s the Shunammite! Run to meet her and ask her, ‘Are you all right? Is your husband all right? Is your child all right?’ ”

Now we can think that without messaging, Facebook, Twitter etc., Elisha did not know that the child was dead. But God does nothing without revealing it to His servants in His time.

“Everything is all right,” she said. When she reached the man of God at the mountain, she took hold of his feet.

Gehazi came over to push her away, but the man of God said,

“Leave her alone! She is in bitter distress, but the Lord has hidden it from me and has not told me why.”

THE BATTLE BEGINS

  1. “Did I ask you for a son, my lord?” she said. “Didn’t I tell you, ‘Don’t raise my hopes’?”
  2. Elisha said to Gehazi, “Tuck your cloak into your belt, take my staff in your hand and run. Don’t greet anyone you meet, and if anyone greets you, do not answer.
  3. Lay my staff on the boy’s face.” But the child’s mother said, “As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you.”
  4. So he got up and followed her. Gehazi went on ahead and laid the staff on the boy’s face, but there was no sound or response. So Gehazi went back to meet Elisha and told him, “The boy has not awakened.”

The war rages but the battle is not lost. Sometimes it takes “but by prayer and maybe even fasting.”

“When Elisha reached the house, there was the boy lying dead on his couch.

  1. He went in, shut the door on the two of them and prayed to the Lord.
  2. Then he got on the bed and lay on the boy, mouth to mouth, eyes to eyes, hands to hands.
  3. As he stretched himself out on him, the boy’s body grew warm.
  4. Elisha turned away and walked back and forth in the room and then got on the bed and stretched out on him once more.

Why was he walking back and forth in the room? Can you think of a reason? I think He was fighting His battle the only way he knew how.

This is how I fight my battles It may look like I’m surrounded, but I’m surrounded by You OUR PRIMARY ACTIVITY is to minister to the heart of the Lord.

THE RESULTS?

The boy sneezed seven times and opened his eyes. Elisha summoned Gehazi and said, “Call the Shunammite.” And he did. When she came, he said, “Take your son.” She came in, fell at his feet and bowed to the ground. Then she took her son and went out.” 2 Kings‬ ‭4:1-37‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The dead raised to life – no this is not the New Testament. This is the OT and a dead child was raised to life. God has never changed. What batthe are you facing today that His reckless love cannot handle? So, do you think that your relationship issues are too much for the blood of Jesus? Or the cancer that is attacking your body? Or the drug adicted child that will not listen? His love is wreckless and He has already fought for you! AND WON!!

Lyrics
Before I spoke a word, You were singing over me
You have been so, so good to me
Before I took a breath, You breathed Your life in me
You have been so, so kind to me
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights ’til I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine
I couldn’t earn it, and I don’t deserve it, still, You give Yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God, yeah
When I was Your foe, still Your love fought for me
You have been so, so good to me
When I felt no worth, You paid it all for me
You have been so, so kind to me
And oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights ’til I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine
And I couldn’t earn it, and I don’t deserve it, still, You give Yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God, yeah
There’s no shadow You won’t light up
Mountain You won’t climb up
Coming after me
There’s no wall You won’t kick down
Lie You won’t tear down
Coming after me
There’s no shadow You won’t light up
Mountain You won’t climb up
Coming after me
There’s no wall You won’t kick down
Lie You won’t tear down
Coming after me
There’s no shadow You won’t light up
Mountain You won’t climb up
Coming after me
There’s no wall You won’t kick down
Lie You won’t tear down
Coming after me
There’s no shadow You won’t light up
Mountain You won’t climb up
Coming after me
There’s no wall You won’t kick down
Lie You won’t tear down
Coming after me
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights ’til I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine
And I couldn’t earn it, I don’t deserve it, still, You give Yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God, yeah
