Love-but place your love on the right things.

You love is too priceless to waste it on things that come and go. It is a gift from the Father. Love as He loves-people-unconditionally. I remember once when someone sent me a message so enraged and so filled with profanity that I was shocked. Why was I shocked? The person ends all of his messages with the following tag Pastor XXX. You see a decision was made that this person did not like. He wanted to operate under the guise of the world, but also claim that we should be Christians. We cannot do both. We cannot deny Christ and that His Holy Spirit governs our thoughts, our actions, and even the company that we keep.  We cannot place persons in positions of authority in the work of God who are involved with the ministry of Satan. Oh Yes, he has a ministry!

Another example, someone blew up on me because the jokes they were posting on our Christian page were off-color and totally unbecoming a child of God. Oh yes, I believe that laughter is one of God’s biggest blessings to us. It unleashes endorphin in the brain and is called the “feel good medicine!” But Scripture also tells us not to become confirmed with the world. When laughter involves the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and appeals to someone’s prideful nature we have a problem. Romans 12:10 proposes “Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another” (KJV).  If my jokes are offensive to my brother then I should be more than willing to avoid them and not AVOID my brother instead. We are so easily offended that we are forgetting that we are Ambassadors of the Kingdom of God-we have become so in-love with the world that we are forgetting whose we are.

So, what do I do? I must think this way – did what I just say, do, or think and posted on social media represent His holy character? If not why not? If I was corrected about it why would I be so offended that I walk out of the doors of the church, ministry, study group, cell group, social media-spiritual group, never to return again? You see I have seen and experienced it all on social media. Yes, I use social media as a stress reducer. But if that stress reduction activity causes me to sin what am I doing? Something to think about huh?

We must be kindly affectionate towards all people – even the sinners. I remember when a piece of legislation rolled out of DC that conservative Christians did not like I saw and read posts that were so hateful towards the person who sent out the legislation, and the persons to whom the legislation referred, that it took me days to get what I saw out of my head. I had to stop reading the newsfeed. Unknowingly my brothers and sisters were demonstrating the kind fruit mentioned in Gal 5 that God did not want us to show. Don’t become so involved in the political/religiosity of this world that we forget what we are commanded to think on. The government is not our spiritual and or moral compass guide. God and His Holy Word are.  I don’t have an opinion on social issues. I simply state what God says about them. If a friend, no matter how dear they are to me, differs from the Word of God, that is their perogative. I will not love them any less, but I will not change what God’s Word says about the issue.Thiis is what God tells us to do ”

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Phil 4:8 KJV)

Life is full of stresses we must find more healthy and spiritually uplifting ways to serve Him and reduce the stress at the same time. If you are feeling overwhelmed, have been so offended by a brother that you feel that shunning them is the only solution – then let’s have a chat to see how we can resolve that issue. We are here not just to share the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to teach His word to the nations, but we are also here to help you experience emotional and spiritual peace.
