2 Ways to Live.

Psalm 50:16-23

Casey suggests that “

Verses 16-20: “The wicked”: Whereas the first charge dealt with a vertical relationship (compare the first tablet of the Ten Commandments), this one in verse 16 focuses on evidence of horizontal violations of covenant. I.e., rebellion against God in the context of man to fellow man offenses (compare the second half of the Ten Commandments) (Psalm 50, 2019).

16 But to the wicked God says: “What right have you to recite my statutes or take my covenant on your lips?   If we are not going to follow God’s directions how dare we to demand that others follow them. “

18 and know his will and approve what is excellent, because you are instructed from the law; 19 and if you are sure that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness, 20 an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of children, having in the law the embodiment of knowledge and truth— Romans 2:18-20 (ESV) Our actions will always indict us. In this day and age with the prevalence of social media, our posts, tweets, and ‘Freedom to say what we want” will always indict us.

17 For you hate discipline, and you cast my words behind you. Discipline indicates self-control. Beginning a statement with “I know that this is going to offend you..” might just be an indication that one should NOT be saying it in the first place. A disciplined mind does not spew out nasty comments to others. Even in the middle of a heated situation.

18 If you see a thief, you are pleased with him, and you keep company with adulterers.  “And hast been a partaker with adulterers”: Many teachers of the law were guilty both of theft and adultery. Romans 2:21  (GNT) You teach others—why don’t you teach yourself? You preach, “Do not steal”—but do you yourself steal?

They are called by our Lord an adulterous generation (Matt. 12:39).

19 “You give your mouth free rein for evil, and your tongue frames deceit. When one speaks evil things against Christ, his doctrines, ordinances, ministers and people. And to deliver out evil doctrines, pernicious to the souls of men. “And thy tongue frameth deceit”: When one creates sentences with deceitful words in a crafty manner to beguile people who will not think and reason for themselves it is cursed by God.

20 You sit and speak against your brother; you slander your own mother’s son. This is speaking of a talebearer and a strife stirer. Yes, we are definitely looking at a two-faced evil person. James 3:6 (ESV) states And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life,[a] and set on fire by hell. This is the direct opposite of do unto others, as you would have them do unto you. This is talking about a brother or sister who sits in a discussion that is tering down another brother or sister. It is even worse if they have pledged friendship with the person whom they are verbally assinating. I know that it happens an it grieves my soul. I won’t participate in it.

This mornig I decided that I will fast from social media because I have not yet mastered the ability to read rubbish about what God will or will not do, or even about education and what it is or is not doing without immediately providing proof that the other person is speaking against the church, public schools, and public school education in general. This very vocal and untruthful attack against teachers was slander. I do not understand why the religiosu right believe that it is ok to do so. So, this verse of scripture spoke into the depth of my soul this morning.

21 These things you have done, and I have been silent; you thought that I[a] was one like yourself.  Just because God is not making our hands leperous that does nto mean that he is not seeing and hearing the ugly things that we are saying. He will in due course. But now I rebuke you and lay the charge before you.  Freewill can bring us eternal death. YHWH will rebuke us and correct us but he will never force us to follow him.

22 “Mark this, then, you who forget God, lest I tear you apart, and there be none to deliver! Hosea 13:7 displays what that destructio will look like. “So I am to them like a lion; like a leopard I will lurk beside the way.”

23 The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me; to one who orders his way rightly I will show the salvation of God!” The remedy for stubborn heartedness is repentance, sacrifice, praise and thanksgiving.

Romans 10:10 “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” repentance is free. The Righteousness of Jesus is free to us because he paid the price for us with his death and resurrection. So,

    1. Confess him in your heart.
    2. Confess him with your mouth.
    3. Confess him with your actions.

Believe with all that you are that he is your resurrected savior and YOU will enter into eternal life and saved from eternal damnation. We can eithe rlive for God or we can live for the devil. It is that simple. Be blessed.
