Live free! Christ made that possible!

We have no idea what absolute freedom is until we accept Jesus Christ.

Isaiah 61:1 declares “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, Because the LORD has anointed me To bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to captives And freedom to prisoners;” That is freedom. THe right to deliver people from spiritual oppression and imprisonment.

We live in a time of human history where “truth” is dependent on who is speaking and the social and or political context of the speaker.  Whereas John 8:32 proclaims that knowing Jesus gives us a frame of reference for truth that makes it absolute and unimpeachable. “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”  However, we did not receive freedom through the Holy Spirit to become bondservants of ideologies, philosophies, or even syncretic thoughts. Galatians 5:1 iterates why Christ died “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not be encumbered once more by a yoke of slavery [whether emotional, philosophical, theological, political, sociological or rhetorical. Enslavement is not what God wants for His people. Enslavement is a thought process. Freedom is an action of love. Galatians 5:13 confirms “For you, brothers, were called to freedom; but do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh. Rather, serve one another in love.” Once, again we come to the crux of the matter. DO we sing out of love, act out of love, speak out of love, or even exist as Christians as an act of love of God and then of our fellow-man? If we do not that means we are not free, we are enslaved. Choose freedom, choose Christ!
