The Song Priceless… say what?

The Theology behind this song:

Christ says we are priceless:

  1.  “But now this is what the Lord says, the one who created you, Jacob, the one who formed you, Israel:
“Do not be afraid, because I’ve redeemed you.  I’ve called you by name; you are mine.’.” (Isaiah 43:1 NIV)
  2.  “Look! I’ve inscribed you on the palms of my hands, and your walls are forever before me..” (Isaiah 49:16 NIV)
  3.  “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” (Romans 8:32)
  4.  “PHILLIPS: If you pray to a Father who judges men by their actions without the slightest favouritism, then you should spend the time of your stay here on earth with reverent fear. For you must realise all the time that you have been “ransomed” from the futile way of living passed on to you by your fathers’ traditions, not with some money payment of transient value, but by the costly shedding of blood. The price was, in fact, the life-blood of Christ, the unblemished and unstained lamb of sacrifice. It is true that God chose him to fulfil this part before the world was founded, but it was for your benefit that he was revealed in these last days—for you who found your faith in God through Christ. And God raised him from the dead and gave him unimaginable splendour so that all your faith and hope might be centred in God.
  5. Revelation 5:9-10   And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are You to take the book and to break its seals; for You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation. “You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God; and they will reign upon the earth.

The Mirror on the Wall:

When we look at ourselves through fleshly eyes we see our sin. But God’s word says.

  1. James 1:23-25   For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. But one who looks intently [ through the mirror of] at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does.
  2. 2 Corinthians 3:18  But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.
  3. 1 Corinthians 13:12  , For now, we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known.
  4. This is how He sees us.. 1 Peter 2:9 (NKJV) But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
  5. At the Marriage Supper of the Lamb, the bride of Christ will be dressed in white.

And from the throne came a voice that said, “Praise our God, all his servants, all who fear him, from the least to the greatest.” Then I heard again what sounded like the shout of a vast crowd or the roar of mighty ocean waves or the crash of loud thunder: “Praise the LORD! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns. Let us be glad and rejoice, and let us give honor to him. For the time has come for the wedding feast of the Lamb, and his bride has prepared herself. She has been given the finest of pure white linen to wear.” For the fine linen represents the good deeds of God’s holy people. And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb.” And he added, “These are true words that come from God.” Rev. 19:4-9

Strongs explain what the song describes as all the wrongs made right.

Rejoicing in Heaven
1After this I heard a sound like the roar of a great multitude in heaven, shouting: “Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God! 2For His judgments are true and righteous; He has judged the great prostitute who corrupted the earth with her immorality, He has avenged the blood of His servants that was poured out by her hand.” 3And a second time they called out: “Hallelujah! Her smoke ascends forever and ever.”…

I love this song because it speaks to all of the things that Christians all over the world are experiencing right now. Then it tells us what God thinks of us regardless of what the world thinks.

I love this part of the song because some nights the pain from the fibromyalgia is just too much to take. Or I speak to people who are in so much emotional pain that they cannot sleep-they tell me about the torment of their life experiences and how they haunt them. Again, that is the reason why the devotional book on the home page of the blog was written. No matter what we are going through we are the bride of Christ purchased not with diamonds or pearls but with the priceless blood of Jesus Christ. One day, maybe soon we will experience being His bride dressed in white.

So when it’s late
You’re wide awake
Too much to take
Don’t you dare forget that in the pain
You can be brave
Hear me say.
