He goes before you – do not be afraid, Yes even in 2017!

He said, “It is 2017. Those Old Testament promises do not apply to me. This country is going to hell in a basket. I have to protect my family myself!” How many times have we heard that? Or something like this. “We have got to get hold of this country. 1st protect ourselves and ignore all the social injustices that are happening all over the world. This is our country and we want it back again! We cannot trust the …….” and the list becomes endless. I go to bed at night knowing that this promise applies to me. I get up each morning still thankful that I know that I know that these promises apply to me. We sing about “standing on the promises of God” then we turn around and attempt to elect persons who will – we think – assail our fears. No human being can redeem this nation from the destruction of its moral compass.  A compass that was never intact to start with. Shall we look at the inhumane things we did to other human beings when this nation first started? I will just state these words “Native Americans.” Who by the way are still struggling for their autonomy in their own country! The Chinese who came here to work. The enslavement of the Irish. Not to mention the great elephant in the room that is still causing social, theological, and emotional distress.  The inhumane and barbaric enslavement of the African who first landed on the shores of this great nation. The child labor that launched and sustained the industrial revolution. The disparity between working men and women and how they were promoted, and paid – this still exists. The deliberate attempt to keep the “negro” uneducated. Now that I understand because at one point the “negro” was incredible in their ability to rule – ruthlessly mind you – just remember the rulers of Africa, Egypt etc.,

Now, I understand the fear fueled by this action–I do not accept it- because at one point the “negro” was incredible in their ability to rule – ruthlessly mind you – just remembering the rulers of Africa, Egypt etc., did to people during their reigns=fear in the new land.

The “concentration camps” that we built for Japanese Americans – simply because they were Japanese. I am ashamed to state that for a “Christian” nation we have not behaved like Christians for hundreds of years. Why? Because we did not believe that God could protect us from perceived arm!  It is time for us to put actions to the words we read, sing, and place on the walls of our homes.

I was reading Ezra this morning and was once again reminded that human depravity and indifference for God’s will happens even in the midst of a spiritual revival.  These thoughts might seem radical because someone may think I am saying do nothing. God places people in positions of rulership. Sometimes, it is not for our intended purpose, but for his. Remember Jehu the anointed king of Israel. We are God’s people. I must act as if I am a child of God in every area of my life. I visit with friends and they are in an uproar over the social state of this nation, the political climate of the nation, the rise of “fascism” and other isms in the nation and they are in a state of panic.

Read social media and you will see that we as a group of believers are trusting in “king, rulers, etc.,” but not in the name of  The Lord our God. Maybe, just maybe if we started to place our trust where true power lies transformation will begin to take place in America once again. It begins with me. I will not live a life of fear. I will trust in His promises and I will live a life that demonstrates that trust!

Amen! This really does speak to those who believe in Christ. I find it amazing that the Church where Pastor Osteen preaches did not open for those who needed a place to stay. But, pastors are just as influenced by money and other physical things as anyone else!!

I saw that on FB. I was not shocked. That happened in our area too when Matthew came through. Human nature being what it is. It is hard to believe and act on putting our absolute trust in God for everything. But we must begin somewhere.

Have a simply splendid day. Grace and Peace to all! 🙂 Joyce E. Gerald Ed.S, MCM Cell: 843-597-2826 Ministry Website Our first publication is available on the website.
