Be still and listen..He is speaking to…

I went to church this morning with an air of expectancy. U know what? God delivered just what I needed to hear. I have been a journaler for years. I have blogged for longer than some of my friends want to remember. The EA team is fully versed in me writing down what I have heard from the Lord. After my dear friend passed I felt a bit lost. I did not stop journaling, but I did not always share what the Lord told me.  Many people do not believe that God speaks to us, but He truly does speak to us – through His word.  Going to seminary validated that for me.

Psalm 68:33 To Him who rides upon the highest heavens, which are from ancient times; Behold, He speaks forth with His voice, a mighty voice.

Sometimes that voice is not loud, or in modern vernacular bodacious, bad, bombastic etc., My Good, Good, Father has always wanted to converse with His children. It started in Eden

Genesis 3:8 They heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

It continued with Abraham, Moses,

Exodus 24:16  The glory of the Lord rested on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it for six days; and on the seventh day He called to Moses from the midst of the cloud. He spoke to the prophets of old.

Ezekiel 1:28  As the appearance of the rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the surrounding radiance Such was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD And when I saw it, I fell on my face and heard a voice speaking

Daniel 4:31  “While the word was in the king’s mouth, a voice came from heaven, saying, ‘King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is declared: sovereignty has been removed from you.

In the New Testament church, He spoke to His called out ones

2 Peter 1:18  and we ourselves heard this utterance made from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain.

Other instances of His voice speaking to His children. I thought about the voice of God this morning as pastor preached and considered that when I chose to walk in the light and share His word with a total stranger it is Him speaking through me. You see I am a classic introvert! I would rather not make new friends in isolation. But the Holy Spirit prompts me and I need to listen to that divine appointment that He has set up for me. Do I do it every time? No! Can I explain this concept to everyone? Will everyone accept the fact that God does speak to His children through His Holy Word? No, not all the time!  I have been asking Him for a specific thing for such a long time.  I got the results from the doctor, and I was amazed. Those life threatening allergies are now gone. He said He would answer my prayer about my allergies and He did. You can trust Him to answer you through his word too. Journaling helps me to go back and see how He has answered the prayers of  His people. Having an online prayer request page helps too.  I met a new person and I find them fascinating. Now I need to listen to the voice of the Lord to continue that relationship.  Maybe all that they need is just encouragement. But after this morning’s sermon, I think that they need to “Be still and know that He is God!”

The thrust of the sermon this morning was, “Find you place where my daily appointment with God is filled and listen while He speaks to me!” His ears are not stopped up they are opened to my cries. How about you?
