In this day and age it is also our fingers! Social media has become the international tool of verbal abuse. We – the church – must not fall into the quagmire of openly violating this Scripture. We are losing the ability to be civil to each other. This Scripture is demonstrated everyday by the tenure of our written and unwritten communications. We have mastered the art of bullying through our communications, Or lack of communicating. When we are angered with others we either openly flay then with our tongues – or fingers – or we play psychological games by with holding communications all together. We are falling into another pit from hell friends, we must allow the Holy Spirit to transform our minds. How?
- When someone one takes the time to communicate with us respond.
- Respond kindly!
- If a response will embarrass the other person, do it privately.
Planned ignoring is unkind. Scripture tells us, “Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.” Mal 3:16. That is Godly communications. Scripture declares, “Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.” James 3:11-12 NIV. That is God’s directive to us my friends. We must stop the verbal carnage and the open public display of unkind speech to others.
