Let his name be exalted as we demonstrate his love.

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:9-11 NIV

Friends we live during an age where anything goes, appears, to be the business of the day. The offense that send people into a downward spiral will come that is guaranteed. We are Christians so we will be offended and we will offend others as long as we stand on the truth of God’s word. What we must remember is that He, Christ Our Lord is already exalted to the highest place in the heavens. We must also remember that His name is higher than all other names.
Men may not and will not bow down before him and his will today, but they will not have a choice in the future. What we must do until then is this, “And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come. ” (Luke 19:13 King James Version KJV). That directive to “Occupy til I come” is simple isn’t it? In word but not in deed. Occupy means to stand at arms. Take charge! Lay siege and do the work of the Living God.

Not fight and bicker among ourselves. The enemy is so elated when we backbite each other. He loves it when we send each other nasty e-mails. How do I know that? “Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right side to accuse him. 2 The Lord said to Satan, “The Lord rebuke you, Satan! The Lord, who has chosen Jerusalem, rebuke you! Is not this man a burning stick snatched from the fire?” 3 Now Joshua was dressed in filthy clothes as he stood before the angel. 4 The angel said to those who were standing before him, “Take off his filthy clothes.” Then he said to Joshua, “See, I have taken away your sin, and I will put fine garments on you.”” (Zac 3:1-4). What was the devil doing? His job. When we as Paul puts it, “If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other” (Gal 5:15 NIV). We are in effect doing his work for him. A church divided, squabbling, arguing, playing God is ineffective in its testimony. We must stand firm on the word of God. But we must never use the word of God to beat each other or the sinner up. His name is higher than any other name. When we defame his name, we are lowering it. We defame it by causing the unsaved to point the “finger” at us and say, “If that is Christianity-I want no part of it!” Churches are closing all over this country because we have forgotten how to carry the Lord’s message of love. We can only be effective Christians because they “see His love in us as we love each other.” Lift Him up high, and keep his name out of the gutter by loving each other as he has loved us. Then we can show his love to the world. It definitely needs love.

It took me a while to write this post.  What happened to my dear friend in Charleston SC and his sister was horrendous.  But what followed afterwards was anointed.  The love demonstrated by the Christians and the City of Charleston for the sinner was truly from the Holy Spirit.  His Holy Name was lifted up by an entire city: It shook the entire world!

I asked myself why can we not be that way all the time, with all issues?  I think it is because we have forgotten that our calling is not to a political party, but rather from the Eternal God.  At all times we must act like he would in ever single instance.  My Pastor reminded us yesterday that the only people who Jesus railed on were the religious people.  He never once preached fire and brimstone on the sinner.  Isn’t that interesting?

The people in Charleston did indeed teach the entire nation a lesson about God’s love and the abiding love the people of Charleston have for one another. There were no riots as in other places, no burning, no theft, just a peaceful demonstration of God’s precious grace. And yet, once more we see who understands and who does not. And now we have another young lady killed senselessly due to those who do not do the job they were elected to do. And, then the young lady shot in the back of the head while walking with her boyfriend. I wonder how we are allowing all this death and destruction just happen. I know God is not the one allowing this to happen, it is the human being in us that does the opposite of what God tells us to do. There is no love for others in these heinous crimes. There is only self-serving pride for the ones who committed this crime.

We have a book “It takes a village to teach a child”, yet we do not teach manners, respect for others, or the “take responsibility for your own actions”. It is always someone else’s fault. That will be our demise if we do not act as Jesus taught us or we continue to deny Him. I pray that this nation will change its course and return to God so that we will no longer continue in this downward spiral.

I agree with you Jeleane. We pray daily for this to happen and for our leaders. I know that you do too. Compared to so many other places this is still the most blessed nation on earth.
