For unto us is offered the opportunity of adoption..

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6 KJV).

It is so amazing that God sent us a child, “For unto us a child is born”. Who is God referring to when he says us? All of mankind!! From the writing of the book of Isaiah until he sets his foot on the Mount of Olives when he returns victoriously as King of Kings and Lord and Lords- he came as a child. He humbled himself and became a human being to open the gates of heaven for all mankind to access the Heavenly Father. God became man. His word states,

“Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:5-11 ESV).

We my dear friends are apart of the group of people who have decided to “confess that Jesus Christ is Lord”. As we confess that, to as many people as possible, his Kingdom grows and our obedience to the call of God grows us in him as his obedient child. We become a part of this prophecy,

“Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this” (Isaiah 9:7 NIV).

There will be a day my friends when this baby that came thousands of years ago will return to this earth to claim it and call his children unto him. That is the most important part about Christmas. It is an annual celebration of the fulfillment of God’s promise to Abraham. He told Abram,

“[The Lord said,] “I swear by myself, declares the Lord, that because you have done this [ Abram was willing to offer up his son his only son Isaac to be a sacrifice in total obedience to what God had asked him to do.] and have not withheld your son, your only son, I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies, [here is the pivotal part of this promise that we are members of..] and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed [ Jesus Christ is a direct descentdent of Abram through the line of David and of the tribe of Judah. Because of Abram’s obedience and the birth Christ we are in the number of Abram’s descendants named in this blessing].”(Genesis 22:16-18).

The new testament scripture clearly confirms this promise as one that we can claim. Paul reminded the Galatians,

“Praise for Spiritual Blessings in Christ”
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for [adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ], in accordance with his pleasure and will— to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ. In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory (Ephesians 1:4-15 NIV).

Praise God for fulfilling his promise to his obedient servant Abram. What has he called you to do numerous times and you have not answered that call? Every single person who has accepted Jesus Christ as their person Savior is called to carry out the Great Commisssion. Each of us has a job of reaching others to extend the number of people who will be in The Kingdom of God! That is our purpose. No Christian should be saying they do not know what their purpose is. We are all called to minister to others because,

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6 KJV). Also, “”Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this” (Isaiah 9:7 NIV).

Merry Christ and a Happy and Blessed New Year to All

I came on here to read today’s post and smiled when I saw you started with the very same post I put for today’s scripture reading. I love how you explain it and how you go into a lot more deeply than I can, but I feel the love God sent us when He sent us His Son!!
