He came as a baby to be our help!

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—  where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. (Psalm 121:1-2)*

He came as a baby to empower us to call out to him in our time of need.  At this time of the year, there is so much pain and emotional turmoil that people make decisions about their lives that changes them forever. Remember friends that the Lord is our helper and he promises us peace, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27). Embrace that peace friends. Do not allow the hustle and bustle of this time of the year to envelope you so much that you forget whose you are.

Yes, I know that many of you will be experiencing Christmas this year without a loved one for the first time in your lives. Please remember that they are where they are because God called them home. They are experiencing the promise that God made to all of us. ““Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).

Sometimes we wonder why we are where we are, until we realize that our steps are ordered by the Lord.  He and he alone has absolute control of our lives.  There will be times when the pressures of life are so intense that we just want to scream out to him in emotional agony and tell him we want it to end. We want immediate healing from our “thorns in the flesh” (2 Corinthians 12:7). However, many of us have them there to keep us humble before God.

Maybe the loss you experienced this year has become your thorn in the flesh. Has it stretched you beyond your humanly possible limits? Has it bent you to the point where you thought you were going to break?

How did you get through that passage of darkness? Did you see his flaming sword and the light at the end of that dark tunnel? He is your help right now and will remain so regardless of how rough times may seem. Just call out to him and help will be right there. He has never moved, and he will never move from you.
