God told Moses

“GOD told Moses, “Look at me. I’ll make you as a god to Pharaoh and your brother Aaron will be your prophet. You are to speak everything I command you, and your brother Aaron will tell it to Pharaoh. Then he will release the Israelites from his land. At the same time, I am going to put Pharaoh’s back up and follow it up by filling Egypt with signs and wonders. Pharaoh is not going to listen to you, but I will have my way against Egypt and bring out my soldiers, my people the Israelites, from Egypt by mighty acts of judgment. The Egyptians will realize that I am GOD when I step in and take the Israelites out of their country.”

Moses and Aaron did exactly what GOD commanded. Moses was eighty and Aaron eighty-three when they spoke to Pharaoh.

Then GOD spoke to Moses and Aaron. He said, “When Pharaoh speaks to you and says, ‘Prove yourselves. Perform a miracle,’ then tell Aaron, ‘Take your staff and throw it down in front of Pharaoh: It will turn into a snake.’”

Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did what GOD commanded. Aaron threw his staff down in front of Pharaoh and his servants, and it turned into a snake. Pharaoh called in his wise men and sorcerers. The magicians of Egypt did the same thing by their incantations: each man threw down his staff and they all turned into snakes. But then Aaron’s staff swallowed their staffs.

Yet Pharaoh was as stubborn as ever—he wouldn’t listen to them, just as GOD had said.”
Exodus 7:1-13 MSG

God will put us in a similar situation. Either we trust Him to get us through the assignment or we make excuses why it cannot possibly be us. Just know that God already knows that!

Feelings….do not have the breath of life.

We have attributed to our emotions to the gloriousness of the gift of life that God gave to Adam. “And the Lord God formed man out of clay. And God breathed His breath into this clay model and it. The model became a living soul!” A thinking reasoning, rationalizing living being formed in God’s image.

Feelings were not formed in God’s image, but most of our daily decisions in life are based on our feelings, not on the gift of the Holy Spirit that we received when we accepted Christ as our personal Savior. I Peter 1:13 proclaims

13-16 So roll up your sleeves, put your mind in gear, be totally ready to receive the gift that’s coming when Jesus arrives. Don’t lazily slip back into those old grooves of evil, doing just what you feel like doing. You didn’t know any better then; you do now. As obedient children, let yourselves be pulled into a way of life shaped by God’s life, a life energetic and blazing with holiness. God said, “I am holy; you be holy.”

Being holy is not a feeling. It is a way of life. It requires actions on our part. Peter continues to describe the type of actions.

3-5 What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven—and the future starts now! God is keeping careful watch over us and the future. The Day is coming when you’ll have it all—life healed and whole.

Our present actions require living like we are new creatures. Living in the now where everything is fresh and worth living for. Living now because we realize that eternal life began on the day that we accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. That was not a matter of feeling like we did. We verbally declared it. We literally live it as an act of love toward our Heavenly Father. I love that last phrase “The Day is coming when you’ll have it all—life healed and whole.” Human bodies were now meant to live forever. We will have emotional psychological, and physical challenges.  What we do about them determines the level of our joy meter. Our love of God through faith is priceless!

We are currently in spiritual warfare mode. It will not end until we either breathe our last breath or Christ returns. Just read the continuation of Peter’s discourse.

6-7 I know how great this makes you feel, even though you have to put up with every kind of aggravation in the meantime. Pure gold put in the fire comes out of it proved pure; genuine faith put through this suffering comes out proved genuine. When Jesus wraps this all up, it’s your faith, not your gold, that God will have on display as evidence of his victory.

We can say “Hallelujah” even in the most trying time because we know that “When Jesus wraps this all up, it’s your faith, not your gold, that God will have on display as evidence of his victory.” Note it is our faith, not our money, pride, possessions or feelings,

We are at war against spiritual forces. They will end messages into the air and through others that will tickle our feelings. We will determine that our feelings are important and must be guarded at all cost because of our inward perceptions or even because of what we think we have seen.  Ephesians 6:10-12 inspires us to remember who and what lives inside of us.

10-12 And that about wraps it up. God is strong, and he wants you strong. So take everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best materials. And put them to use so you will be able to stand up to everything the Devil throws your way. This is no afternoon athletic contest that we’ll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels.

Hebrews 3 warns us against our humanity

12-14 So watch your step, friends. Make sure there’s no evil unbelief lying around that will trip you up and throw you off course, diverting you from the living God. For as long as it’s still God’s Today, keep each other on your toes so sin doesn’t slow down your reflexes. If we can only keep our grip on the sure thing we started out with, we’re in this with Christ for the long haul.

Yes, our emotions were designed by God. But they were not meant to be the determining factor in our decision making. Delight, fear, joy, and anger reveal who we are in our fallen nature. Emotions and indicators of our fallen nature; they must not rule us or our actions. In Romans 6 Paul clarified this point by stating

12-14 That means you must not give sin a vote in the way you conduct your lives. Don’t give it the time of day. Don’t even run little errands that are connected with that old way of life. Throw yourselves wholeheartedly and full-time—remember, you’ve been raised from the dead!—into God’s way of doing things. Sin can’t tell you how to live. After all, you’re not living under that old tyranny any longer. You’re living in the freedom of God.

Finally my brothers and sisters

8-11 Keep a cool head. Stay alert. The Devil is poised to pounce, and would like nothing better than to catch you napping. Keep your guard up. You’re not the only ones plunged into these hard times. It’s the same with Christians all over the world. So keep a firm grip on the faith. The suffering won’t last forever. It won’t be long before this generous God who has great plans for us in Christ—eternal and glorious plans they are!—will have you put together and on your feet for good. He gets the last word; yes, he does
