Gratitude Day#28 I am thankful that belief = No Condemnation!

The biblical context of this Scripture is a simple premise “God’s love for mankind.”

For God So Loved
17For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. 18Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is already condemned, because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19And this is the verdict: The Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness more than light, because their deeds were evil.…Berean Study Bible

Mark 16:16  “Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” [Now in the eyes of the world and unbeliever this Scripture may appear to present God as an exclusivist. However, that is an antiphonal statement. The  Scripture says “whoever” the emphasis of choice is given to the person. Not person singular but person multiplied. Every single person who chooses to believe is not condemned. The same threat is repeated throughout the New Testament Scriptures.

  1. John 1:12 “But to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God–“
  2. John 1:18 “No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is Himself God and is at the Father’s side, has made Him known.”
  3. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
  4. John 5:24 “Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment. Indeed, he has crossed over from death to life.”
  5. Hebrews 3:19 “So we see that it was because of their unbelief that they were unable to enter.”
  6. 1 John 3:23 “And this is His commandment: that we should believe in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ, and we should love one another just as He commanded us.
  7. 1 John 4:9 “This is how God’s love was revealed among us: God sent His one and only Son into the world, o that we might live through Him. “
  8. 1 John 5:10 Whoever believes in the Son of God has this testimony within him; whoever does not believe God has made Him out to be a liar because he has not believed in the testimony God has given about His Son.”

In the final analysis of where one stands with God, the answer will always be “where do I choose to stand?’ I chose to apply faith and belief because that application in my life = no condemnation when I slip and actually sin; when I falter and think sinful thoughts when I am in a situation and instead of addressing it full-force – because that is what was warranted – I choose to walk away.   When God gives us an opportunity to change a situation we should always take it, but human nature wants to say, ” I don’t want to deal with the drama!” That is in effect a sin. I would have refused to follow a direct command of God. So, I am thankful when I am not as obedient to His call on my life that I am not condemned. I am thankful that my belief in Jesus Christ as the only door to God places me in a position of no condemnation because I am “in Christ Jesus!”
