A prayer for today.

Dear Abba, and my Jehovah Jireh,

Thank You for this beautiful day, and for the fact that I can enjoy it with all of my senses. Abba, I understand that You have entrusted me with the vital task of being a beacon of Your glorious light into a world that is filled with darkness, just as Jesus taught that we are indeed “the light of the world.”

We are like towns built on a hill, visible from afar. But Abba, He also warned us not to light a lamp and then cover it up. We are supposed to place the light in a prominent location so that everyone in the home can benefit from it. But Abba, not only are they supposed to benefit from our light, they are supposed to be led to glorify You, as their creator, because of our light. Matthew 5:14-16 NKJV.

Father, I am worn out. I feel as if my light is covered by all of the trauma I have experienced over this year. Clean up my windows, Abba. Renew me, so I may shine brightly as a witness OF Your love for me and others. Show me how You want to dispel the darkness around me with Your holy light shining through me.

Empower me to be kind even when others are unkind to me. Abba, help me to give others hope through that light. Help me to be a steadfast witness for You in the places where I live, work, study, serve, and play,

Abba. Please help me remind others that faith is not ethereal; it is a tangible reality. Abba, let my light shine so much that others come to realize that faith comes from the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Abba, please encourage me to live by Your law, faith, hope, and love because these are the greatest of Your commandments. 1 Corinthians 13:13 NKJV.

Abba, today, I also pray for all of the Christian teachers in our community. Lord, their job is so hard. There may even be days when their lamps need trimming so their lights can shine brightly. Please give them the Holy Spirit’s power that they need to help them be the smile their students see first thing in the morning.

Give them that extra little thing that will open the eyes and minds of the students. Some students take a while to absorb the material being taught. Guide the funnel of their brain to settle the day’s lesson in a place where association and assimilation will occur, please, Abba. We know that true wisdom only comes from Your Abba, and knowledge and understanding are gifts of the Holy Spirit. Proverbs 2:6 NKJV.

Abba, for some children, learning something new is easy. Still, for other students, skill acquisition requires considerable practice. Abba, please help the children who learns through tactile experiences rather than by reading information from the page.

Father, please encourage our gifted learners to keep their minds engaged in learning and to elevate their knowledge base to even higher levels. Finally, Father, use me as Your light among children in my community. As I walk to get my mail, Lord, help me realize the profound impact a simple smile can have on a person’s day. Help me to be like Jesus in a world where recognition is more important than serving You. Galatians 5:13 NKJV.

Thank You, my Father in Heaven, for Jesus’ blood-bought sacrifice that makes it possible for me to even approach the throne of grace, mercy, and deliverance. As we practice today for the worship service tomorrow I pray that Your will be done and that the power of the Holy Spirit fills that place so that Your presence can fill that place and Your glorious sound of worship will be experienced by all. Bless all that is being planned for worship tomorrow and bless the people who are making the plans.

I pray this in the glorious name of my savior, יֵשׁוּעַ מוֹשִׁיעִי (Yeshua Moshia’i) Amen.
