Context
Psalm 100 is a hymn of worldwide praise. It encourages people groups to come to the sanctuary and praises the Lord.
We belong to Him
1 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. 2 Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. 3 Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people and the sheep of his pasture.
YHWH hears the praise of Blacks, Caucasians, and Orientals. He does not listen to one group more than the other. He loves all of His children, and He hears our praise. Pss 23; 95:7 expects God’s people to praise Him not just because He is God, but because He is our shepherd, and we are His sheep/ Sheep listen to and obey the voice of the shepherd.
Give thanks
4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. 5 For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
The psalmist shows the people the way to the sanctuary. Then he tells them that they should sing their praises to YHWH as they enter the gates and courts of the temple. But why should they do that? Because YHWH is good, merciful, and truthful. YHWH’s goodness, mercy, and truthfulness are all part of the covenant that He made with His people. It was and still is an everlasting covenant. YHWH is their shepherd, their provider, and their protector. He is also the protector, provider, and shepherd of Christian, today. 2 Thessalonians 3:3 declares, “But the Lord is faithful, who shall establish you, and keep you from evil.“
God our provider scriptures
There will come a time in our Christian walk when we will need to be assured that the provider God of Israel is also our provider. See the following scriptures for words of encouragement.
- Matthew 6:26. “Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?”
- Acts 14:17. “And yet He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good and gave you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with food and gladness.”
- Philippians 4:19. “And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
Because YHWH is good and His mercies endure forever, we should Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
