Listening requires silence: Listen to God: Change

We have entered an era of dichotomous living. The good Lord has allowed a specific shameful attitude among us to be revealed, systematic racism, and racial injustice. Several things will happen. (1) We will recognize that racism and racial injustice exists. (2) We will identify the source of systematic racism and racial injustice. OR. (3) We will recognize that this is a spiritual problem and not a choice problem.

Sin is ingrained in the hearts of human beings. To hate anyone is a sin. “If anyone says, ‘I love God,’ and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen” (1 John 4:20 ESV). That doesn’t really say hatred is a sin, right? What is the opposite of hate? “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this, all people will know that you are my disciples if you have love for one another ( John 13:34-35 ESV ). Love is the opposite of what God has called us to do and be. We also know that lying is a sin too. “I hate and abhor falsehood,” (Psalm 119:163  ESV). OR

We will continue to vehemently deny that racism of any kind is sin, and allow it to continue. When we do so we will become mockers.

“Mockers don’t like those who correct them. They won’t go to the wise.” CEB Translation

As children of God’s light, we must accept correction, then change the course of our behavior, words, and thoughts. We must make sure that they line up with God’s expressed will.

It is as simple as that. We must learn to be to this person: “Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, [NOT become this person ] but he who hates reproof is stupid (“Proverbs 12:1 ESV).

Prayer: Lord, I pray that each of us reading this devotional will allow thee scorching light of the Holy Spirit to peer deep into our hearts and convict us of our attitudes. It doesn’t matter who we have racial hate against Blacks, Whites, Asians, Hispanics, it must STOP. When we cannot come to that realization, I pray that you will guide us to a flesh and blood person who can guide us to the truth of your holy word. It is sinful to hate another person. We are all children of God. Give us peace in our communications with each other, please Jesus. Amen.
