Pray without ceasing.

It appears that the world is in a state of upheaval, yet I have noticed that many young people are not interested in the one person who can give them peace and rally turn society around, Jesus. Why is that? In 2 Timothy 3, we read

1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

We must be aware of the fact that during the last phase of humans ruling the earth life will become more difficult. Why should that happen? After all. we have more opportunities to share the gospel than ever before?

2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

2 Timothy 3

When was the last time that you heard leaders, movers, and shakers of society truthfully and humbly thank God for who He is and what He has accomplished in their lives? Today we see and hear leaders say, “I have changed the economy. I have fixed this problem, or that problem. I have found a solution for the COVID-19 pandemic, and so on.” Do you remember a person from biblical history who had to audacity to do that? Nebuchadnezzar! In Daniel 4, we can read about what happened to him.

22 It is thou, O king, that art grown and become strong: for thy greatness is grown, and reacheth unto heaven, and thy dominion to the end of the earth.23 And whereas the king saw a watcher and an holy one coming down from heaven, and saying, Hew the tree down, and destroy it; yet leave the stump of the roots thereof in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts of the field, till seven times pass over him; 24 This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the most High, which is come upon my lord the king: 25 That they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will. 26 And whereas they commanded to leave the stump of the tree roots; thy kingdom shall be sure unto thee, after that thou shalt have known that the heavens do rule. 27 Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by shewing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity. 28 All this came upon the king Nebuchadnezzar.

Daniel 4: 22-2 KJV

We could ask, “So why?” Unthankfulness is a sin. Pride is a sin. No one arrives at a high position of authority without God’s knowledge. Sometimes it is to bless a nation, and sometimes it is to punish the nation (Read about Jehu). In the last days, this is what our behaviors will be like.

Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Our behavior looks like this because we have forgotten that we do not live for ourselves. We live for Christ. We are ambassadors of the Kingdom of God. When we engage with the world, we are representing Jesus Christ. When we are faced with social injustice, we must speak out. No scripture in the Bible that tells us whom we should vote for and or which political party we should support. We must remain focused on our Kingdom Mission. Growing closer to God and learning how to love ALL people better is our goal.

Prayer: Lord, please forgive us for the apathy that has seeped deep into our souls. The callousness that has hardened our hearts, and please give us your eyes to see people the way you see them. Teach us how to recognize that all movement must begin and must be maintained by prayer and praise. We will not experience internal peace if we do not pray and praise you. We must think about the things that you have left us in your hold word, and we must pray for the return of your Son to set up your kingdom on this earth. It is the only time that this world will experience peace. Amen.
