Dear Father God,
Thank You for providing a way for me to move from death to life. You sent your Son to accept the wage for the sins that I commit, and in return, His sacrifice gave me eternal life. Even today, I still cannot fathom such a sacrifice for a sin-filled person like me. He didn’t become my sacrifice after I received him as my Savior. He became my sacrifice despite my sinful nature. Would I become a sacrifice for the person who killed Mr. Kirk? That is the question, isn’t it, Lord? We have such yardsticks for sin that we are forgetting that You have only one. Sin is sin! It doesn’t matter if the sin of murder was committed against a homeless person or an evangelical; it is still a sin. Romans 6:23 NKJV.
We should be praying for the soul of the person who committed the sin, and rejoicing that Mr. Kirk is receiving his reward; he is with his Savior in heaven. Abba, I realize that we are literally living in a time on earth where human life is worthless, and to be a Christian is dangerous. Still, Your word warned us of such a time as this.
“For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now, as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was.” 2 Timothy 3:2-9 NKJV
Abba, this scripture from 2 Timothy is not speaking about people who do not know You to be God and Lord of all. It includes Your children who have become the persons described in this scripture: [https://biblehub.com/2_timothy/3-2.htm]. It serves as a reminder of the behaviors and attitudes that we, as Your children, should avoid and strive to overcome.
Social media is spoken of as an evil place, but, Abba, we, Your children, have become the most slanderous of all. We use this medium to say hurtful words against others. We use it to politicize the Gospel of Jesus Christ and arm it as a verbal weapon against sinners. That is not what Christ did. We have become so wrapped up in politics that we have forgotten that this world is not our home. Then we dare to proclaim the gospel in between the mean and ugly things that we post about people. As James 3:10 [NKJV] warns, ‘Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.’ We must be mindful of our words and actions, especially when they are in the name of our faith.
Thank You for Your gift of forgiveness, and access to the throne of grace and forgiveness, and the ultimate gift of eternal life. Thank you for loving us even when our behavior makes us unlovable. Thank You, Father God, that Jesus saves all who turn and follow Him. Oh, how Your love is shown in Your acts of redemption, 2 Corinthians 5:21 NKJV. Glory be to Your name, Abba.
Please forgive me for my sins, which made it necessary for Jesus to become sin for me so that I might be redeemed and have a relationship and fellowship with You. Thank You for making a way for me to become righteous in Your sight. I praise You, and I want to honor You, my Father God. Thank You, Jesus, my Savior. Thank You, Holy Spirit, my Counselor and the seal of my redemption. Ephesians 4:30.
Thank You for the Life You have given to me. It is not and has not been easy, but You always make a way for me, hallelujah! In the precious name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
