Independence Day Prayer: PTWG

Dear Father God,

Today, I am thinking about how people try hard to be independent. We want to be individuals, to “do it ourselves.” This started in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve and continues today in all of humanity when we are children. We are children in Your eyes, no matter what our age. “The Spirit Himself bears witness with our Spirit that we are children of God…” Romans 8:16

Lord, we people really do need You and each other. We are not meant to journey alone but to support one another emotionally, psychologically, spiritually, and sometimes even physically. This mutual support is a testament to Your love and care for us, Father. Lord, we need accountability partners, true friends, and loving family members to guide us in our lives, words, and relationships. A friend loves at all times, And a brother is born for adversity.” Proverbs 17:17 (NKJV)

Father, please help me be willing to help and open to suggestions from accountability partners so that I may grow spiritually in grace and in the knowledge of my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Father, may my service to others be in the name of Your Sons and my Savior Jesus Christ and not for self-aggrandizement. But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.” 1 Peter 4:7–11 NKJV

Lord, I aspire to be a loving, trusted member of the family of God and a servant in my home, church, workplace, school, ministry, and community. I place my trust in You, my Lord.. It is better to trust in the LORD Than to put confidence in man. Psalms 118:8

I pray for the children of our community and my children and grandchildren, Lord. May they also remember that they are accountable to You for how they live. Father, I pray these things. In the holy name of Jesus, I pray, Amen.
