Today’s Prayer

Children of God—“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the one whom will remain nameless walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8). God, You have warned me…and I have listened. I have recognized how the one whom shall remain nameless tempts people and turns them down the wrong path. I have seen how he manipulates people to do his will and unknowingly take part in his plan to destroy families and destroy lives. Please, through the power of Your Holy Spirit, keep me alert and watchful against the one whom shall remain nameless’ plots. Help me to recognize and resist his efforts, and to turn to You for help in all things. May I never be used in the one whom shall remain nameless’ plans, but only be a part of Your plan. In Jesus’ name I pray.
Amen.

Just read Ephesians 6 this morning ending my place in this biblical book. It says:

Ephesians 6: 10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

And, I come here to read the prayer and it’s a second reminder to which I say, I hear You Lord God and like Wynette, I pray to be alert, ready, and full armored in Your Son Jesus Christ…Amen!

I posted this on our women’s ministry wall in September, I hope that it is okay to repost here. If not please just delete this…
As I was looking out the window this morning, well now it is afternoon already, I got caught up watching an ibis gingerly walk along the vine on my fence. An ibis is such a beautiful bird; sleek, white, determined, focused and peaceful in appearance yet, there he is ready to gobble up and destroy his prey. He cautiously placed one foot in front of the other creeping along the leaves of the passion vine and then stop, ever so slowly he craned his neck around inside the blooms so that he was barely visible to my eyes, but I knew he was there. He sat patiently waiting for some kind of movement; an opportunity to attack his prey and devour them. Patiently he stood there waiting. I started thinking about the insects he was waiting for. They were so busy flitting around the leaves and blossoms that they probably didn’t even notice that the Ibis was there, just sitting there patiently waiting on them to be oblivious to his presence so they could be his next victim. I started thinking how much we are like the insects on my vine. We run around all day keeping so busy we do not even notice when the danger is lurking right beside us; stalking us, waiting for the perfect moment to devour us or destroy us. Evil can come in many forms and even dressed up to look safe and inviting. Yet, it is there to hurt, destroy and devour us. Stalking us, finding just the right moment to attack and destroy. Evil can come disguised in a pretty package or something so mundane that we don’t even notice that it is leading us astray. None of us wake up and consciously decide to walk down the wrong path, but it can happen. Sometimes we make a choice to ignore something we shouldn’t or speak words that hurt rather than affirm. We can find ourselves in a situation that makes us uncomfortable but we stay and say nothing. I am sure it is in those times that the evil one is much like the ibis, he can appear innocuous, just sitting there waiting or he can be creeping up behind us just waiting for a chance to pounce on us and devour us. At these times ladies we need to be armed with God’s word to be able to stop him from his plan of attack! In order to keep evil at bay we need to be armed. The best armor is found in God’s word. I am listing a few verses for you, but I beseech you to seek other verses to cling to in times when evil is lurking.
Psalm 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Proverbs 3:3 Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.
Proverbs 4:20-23 My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words.21 Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; 22 for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body. 23 Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
Proverbs 7:1-3 1My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.2Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of your eye. 3Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of your heart.
Psalm 40:7-8 7 Then I said, “Here I am, I have come— it is written about me in the scroll.8 I desire to do your will, my God; your law is within my heart.”
1 Corinthians 15:33 33 Don’t be fooled by those who say such things, for “bad company corrupts good character.”
2 Corinthians 3:2-3 2 You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone. 3 You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.
Ephesians 6:10-18 10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Praying for you all to make time to hide God’s word in your heart and place your armor on daily so you are protected from evil! Love you all!!

We always welcome the word of the Lord. Thank you for being such a powerful prayer warrior for the Lord. It is time for the bones of the truth to be put forth. Flowers and butterflies are wonderful but the time for that is past. We must become serious about our walk with the Lord!

Wyn, you are so right. There is no time to waste, we have to write God’s word on our heart so we can be armed with the truth. We cannot stand if we are not armed with the whole armor of God! The secular world is a scary place. We as Christians MUST make a difference in the lives of others or we fail not only God but our family and friends.
